What is WizardsSpell?
Features & Description
WizardsSpell is a spelling practice tool for students to quickly master spelling. They practice their spelling: Words from school, or words their parents or teachers decide on, not words from a 'one-size-fits-all' canned program. Students spend 5 to 10 minutes a few times a week, practicing their list. They can have many concurrent list assignments.
Visual and sound cues help students memorize and learn spelling patterns. Spelling errors and successes are presented to them. Feedback is immediate and encourages students to master a word before proceeding to the next. Records are kept of all their activity. They work in a clean, uncluttered environment, designed to be simple.
WizardsSpell is not a game; it's an educational tool based on time, parent, teacher, common-sense, and research proven principles:
- Practice does make perfect and is the best instructor.
- Children would rather get homework done as quickly as possible, and they don't want to practice spelling homework with you.
- Animation eats up precious time and loses its entertainment value quickly. It can annoy older students.
- Many children, for a variety of reasons, cannot come up with a memorization strategy. Several very short work sessions are more effective at helping memorization.
- Children want to do well. Sometimes they are afraid they cannot.
- An "A" is very satisfying and leads to a craving for more A's.

Parents and teachers have an administrative interface for creating lists and making assignments. Students have their own (yes, clutter and click free) environment. We let them choose a graphic look-and-feel.
